Many thanks to Hong Kong resident Gooner Nick Willows for
informing us about something that's common knowledge over thgere,
but for some reason hasn't hit the news in the UK.
Arsenal are sending a U-20 team to play in the Hong Kong
Football Club 7-a-side competition on May 26-27. Publicity
for the competition says that Liam Brady will be bringing
a team including Pennant & Kouffour in it.
Nick says,
"This is a big event over here and Aston Villa, Celtic, & PSV will also send sides out to play.
In recent years Chelsea, Celtic & Blackburn have sent teams over. There will also be a veterans tournament, with players like Rene Van Der Kerkhof, John Wark, Phil Neal etc etc."
Arsenal have been drawn against:
Sun Hei
Local pro team, containing Gary McKeown ex Arsenal, and Gus Caesar (Nick thinks),
Bexton FC
unknown, from UK, (nope, unknown here too, Ed ;>)
the Yau Yee League select XI
the best players from the Hong Kong Sunday amateur league.
