Catalan spoilsports Barcelona beat Arsenal 2-0 at Highbury, as David Seaman celebrated his testimonial... and a nice payout from the 33,000 crowd at the game.
Alfonso got both the goals for Barca in the first half, and could have had a third - were it not for Seaman's excellent intervention. Seaman was substituted ten minutes from the end, and earned a standing ovation from the crowd.
The only sour note of the night came as Lee Dixon squared off against alleged Arsenal target (not any more!) Boudewijn Zenden after a late challenge by the Dutchman.
And sadly Seaman's poor record in front of goal continued, as he squandered a first-half free kick on the edge of the Barcelona penalty area. But still, top man. |
