The Arsenal-supporting double-act at the top of British sport looks to have been the among the highest-profile casualties of Tony Blair's post-election Cabinet reshuffle.
Chris Smith has been sacked from the Dept for Culture, Media and Sport; with Kate Hoey seemingly joining him on the backbenches.
The new head of DCMS is Tessa Jowell, with Richard Caborn (Sheffield Utd fan) the new Sports Minister. We don't know about Tessa Jowell's affiliation... but although her Dulwich & W Norwood constituency is Crystal Palace territory, and Selhurst Park is in a neighbouring constituency, there are encouraging signs that she too may be a Gooner...? |
