Arsène Wenger expects to sign a new contract before the start of the Premier League season on August 18. "I think it will be done before the start of the season," Wenger told the Evening Standard. British media have speculated that Wenger could succeed Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson when the Scot retires at the end of the season. Wenger's current contract expires in June next year, and the Arsenal manager's statement was just the answer the fans needed.
