Still delaying on signing the contract, Arsene Wenger is being eyed up by Real Madrid as a potential replacement for current boss Guus Hiddink. 'Wenger promised seven days ago that he would sign his new contract this week,' writes the Mirror. 'But Arsenal confirmed last night he has still not put pen to paper. There is increasing speculation that Wenger is worried about events behind the scenes.' The Daily Mail / Evening Standard quotes a Real official as saying: 'Real Madrid have not been in recent contact with Arsene Wenger and have no need of him at the moment. He was approached indirectly by us before we were able to reach an agreement with Hiddink in the summer, and the response we were given was that Wenger had decided not to continue with Arsenal after this season.' Gulp. |
