He's up for grabs now by Rupe

The voice of football, Brian Moore, sadly passed away on Saturday. Tragically, he missed England's historic win in Germany.

Moore will be particularly remembered by Arsenal fans for his "it's up for grabs now" as Michael Thomas scored the league-winning goal at Anfield in 1989. Our very own "they think it's all over" moment.

In fact, so enthusiastic was Moore about that match, and in commentating on subsequent Arsenal matches (such as Copenhagen 94, and the cup triumphs that preceded it), that many Arsenal fans were led to the mistaken belief that he was a Gunners fan. In fact he was a supporter and director of Gillingham.

Bob Wilson led the tributes... "I am just very privileged to have known him the way I got to know him. I think that if I had to give a tribute to Brian as a commentator it would be that I don't think there is anyone in the world of football, and football is a big world, who had a bad word to say about him."

But his is the voice we'll continue to hear in our heads when we think of that night in Liverpool. And we can help others to hear it too: check out our Sounds downloads page featuring that commentary, plus more Moore moments from the cups mentioned above.
