The sooner Arsenal get rid of Sega as principal sponsor, the better, by the sound of things. The Japanese games company has been taken to court by none other than their fellow Gooner-chest-adorner, Nike!
The claim is that a TV advert for Sega's latest basketball game, NBA 2K2 is a scene by scene rip-off of a Nike / Michael Jordan plimsoll commercial from 1996. Nike accuses Sega of 'blatantly shoplift(ing) our intellectual property' in the advert, which - they say - 'has almost no original creative elements that weren't taken in whole or in part from Nike.' More info, should you need it, here.
As for Sega's replacement... don't ask us how we know, but we can exclusively confirm that BT Cellnet (soon to be known as O2) is definitely exploring a link-up with Arsenal, as previously speculated. A deal, though, is still some way away. |
