Bob Pires and Terry Henry are among the 6 players
on the PFA's shortlist for player of the season,
a list which features no defenders or keepers
(a reflection of the attacking style of the top teams, although Liverpool fans may think Hyypia deserved a mention).
Henry's going to have to go some for the rest of the season
to pip his teammate, who will be out till the autumn at least
with his cruciate ligament injury. But they both face stiff
competition. As well as the 2 Arsenal players, the list
features 3 from Man Utd: Keane, Beckham, and van Nistelrooy.
Keane and Beckham might get some sympathy votes (like Pires)
following their injuries this week, but van Nistelrooy who
has lets face it had a storming first season must be the
main threat. He's been tipped by George Graham among others. The 6th player on the list is Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
The nominees for the young player of the season award
include no Arsenal players.
And Dennis Bergkamp's recent form has won him the player of the month award for March.
