Arsenal's first game of their Austrian tour started off in entertaining fashion in Oberwart yesterday. The Austrian 3rd division side took an early lead before two quick goals from Bergkamp and Wiltord put Arsenal ahead at half time.
With the team completely changed at half time, Arsenal went on the rampage, Aliadiere and Henry both netting twice and Edu getting the other goal. The young French striker Aliadiere also set up 3 of the other goals. Neuberg scored a late consolation with a goal almost from the halfway line. Young Craig Holloway in goal has obviously been watching the Arsenal no 1 too closely...
Rupe adds...
There seems to be some confusion over the score in this match.
Arsenal themselves, as well as the BBC, have it as 7-2.
But others are convinced that it was 8. Tavlaridis is credited with the last one, although some seem to think Aliadiere got a third. If anyone can supply a URL to back up their alternative versions, we'd be grateful.
...and Austrian Gooner Michi responds with 2 links, to official neuberg site, and an Austrian sport site, both of which show the 2-8 scoreline.
