Arseweb-Piers Morgan mutual lovefest by Simon

this is story 468 of 532 in this topic to date

Regular readers will know Daily Mirror editor Piers Morgan once named Arseweb as his favourite site on the Net. We'd like to return the favour, by naming him our favourite national newspaper editor. Why?

Well, it won't surprise you to learn that Piers and his Sun counterpart, David Yelland don't get on. Every now and again, hostilities break out. Think Wenger and Ferguson, and you're not far wrong.

So of course, when Yelland accused Morgan - and by extension, Arsenal as a whole - of being 'Man Utd wannabes', of course Our Piers was going to respond.

'Yelland is the current Alex Ferguson of journalism,' he told Media Guardian. 'Both spend millions more than their rivals because their bosses have far deeper pockets, both rant away on a daily basis about how brilliant they are and how they're going to beat everyone and win everything, and both ended up last season with nothing in the trophy cabinet.'

He goes on to accuse Yelland of being (gulp) a Man City fan. 'I know this because when they last played Arsenal at Highbury, he was in the crowd near me wearing his blue scarf and gloves - and saw Arsenal thrash his pathetic bunch of losers 5-0.' (He's right, by the way - about the 5-0 at least.)

Bitching. We love it.

Simon adds...
We recognise we're on thin ice here, but at least when we rip stories off other sites, we credit and link to them. Unlike some people.
