Unsurprisingly, Simon Davies has had one of his yellow cards from Saturday's 3-0 win over Tottenham rescinded. After watching the TV replays, ref
Mike Riley agreed that the first was incorrect. Quite right too,
there was little intent if any, and no contact. Cole's hopping
out of the way made it look a lot worse than it was.
But Davies still faces a ban because the second yellow card,
for a foul on Vieira, stands, and takes him to 5 bookings
which brings a one match suspension.
But it's swings and roundabouts time for Tottenham when it comes to video evidence. Ledley King (arguably Tottenham's best player on the day)
could now be facing trial by telly as the FA are to look at an incident where he is said to have stamped on Freddie Ljungberg.
I haven't seen it myself, but presumably this was the clash
which led to Freddie's withdrawal from Sweden's friendly next week.
The FA are to wait to see if the incident is in
Riley's report before deciding what to do. |
