Domestic cup dates announced by Rupe

this is story 534 of 544 in this topic to date
Thanks to fog in December, and this week's glorious wins over Liverpool in the League Cup and FA Cup, we've got a bit of fixture congestion looming. Ah well, there are worse problems, eh Rafa?

The dates of the next 3 domestic cup matches have now been announced. All 3 games will be shown live on Sky Sports.

In the FA Cup, Bolton Wanderers will come to Ashburton Grove on Sunday 28th Jan, kicking off at 4pm. That was the easy one as far as setting a date is concerned, but maybe not as far as winning the game is concerned. Many of us just knew it'd be Bolton in the next round (ok it's easy to say that in hindsight, but some of said it as soon as we went 3-1 up at Anfield in round 3). We're trying really hard to see it as a great chance to beat the hoodoo, to get some revenge. Bolton can't stay our bogey side for ever can they? And so on.

On the other hand, it's only the 4th round and there are teams like Barnet (no offence) still in it. I think we'll have to use hindsight again, to decide whether this was a good draw or not.

As for the League Cup, the 2-legged semi-final against Tottenham starts at White Hart Lane on Wednesday 24th January (kick off 8pm). It was supposed to be this week, but was put off because of our postponed quarter-final, and would have been scheduled for next week if it weren't for the fact that Tottenham managed to take Cardiff to a replay in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. So instead, the first leg will be on the 24th when the second leg was originally scheduled for, and the second leg will be at Ashburton Grove a week later on Wednesday 31st January (this one kicking off at 8pm).

A home Premiership match against Manchester City which was going to be on Tuesday 30th has therefore been postponed (no date has been set as yet).

See the official site for ticket information, and our calendar for a full list of fixtures and other important dates.

It's going to be tough work to stay in both competitions, both Bolton and Tottenham can be expected to put up more of a fight than Liverpool did. But yesterday's performance showed that if anyone has a squad capable of pushing forward on four fronts, we do.
