As reported the
week before last, our twice-rearranged home date with Manchester City, set at the third attempt for Wednesday 28th
February, was always in severe danger of being moved yet again.
It all depended, we thought, on the outcome of this weekend's
FA Cup ties. If either side needed a 5th round replay, or if
both got knocked out, then the match would be postponed either
indefinitely or to the FA Cup 6th round weekend 10/11 March.
Well, now the official site announces that it's definitely been postponed anyway.
"This is due to unforeseen maintenance work resulting in arsenal underground station being closed from 18 February until 2 March."
We hope that City fans took our advice and didn't make too many
arrangements for the 28th.
The announcement says that a date is expected to be fixed up next week. If both teams get knocked out this weekend, then we can pretty confidently expect it to be on March 10th. But we don't expect both Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers to get that lucky.
I wonder what the record is
for the number of times one game's been rearranged.
