Michael Hart, writing in today's Evening Standard, suggests that Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein would be a popular choice for a leading role at the FA. 'In moments of crisis,' he says, 'the FA turn increasingly to Dein, who is already one of the most powerful figures in the Premier League. Although Geoff Thompson, the FA's acting chairman, is considered the favourite to succeed Wiseman on a permanent basis, Dein would gather support from the clubs if he decided to challenge for the post.' The Premier League jobs freed up yesterday won't appeal to him much though - Hart suggests that Dein is too committed to the Arsenal. Well played! |
