Nicolas Anelka, linked again today with a move out of England (but only by Teamtalk) despite stories on Saturday that he wants to stay, was named Young Player of the Year by the PFA at Sunday night's annual award ceremony. He finished ahead of both crisp-advertiser Michael Owen and Harry Kewell.
L'Oreal shampoo model and Landmines campaigner David Ginola was named (senior) Player of the Year, ahead of Dwight Yorke and our own Emmanuel Petit.
Arsenal and Man United dominated the 'Team of the Year' though, with Petit, Vieira, and Anelka featuring in the best possible Premiership XI which reads: Nigel Martyn; Gary Neville, Sol Campbell, Jaap Stam, Denis Irwin; David Beckham, Patrick Vieira, Manu Petit, David Ginola; Dwight Yorke and Nicolas Anelka.
