Since we met at Highbury, RC Lens won (with luck) FC Metz 1-0 thanks to a Sikora free-kick from 30 yards before they were thrashed 4-1 at the hands of PSG last Friday, Rodriguez was the scorer. It was another game during which their regular centrebacks Ismaël and Pierre-Fanfan showed their "usual" weaknesses : lack of speed and misunderstanding. Lens are currently 11th in the league and nearly safe from going down, 5 points above the relegation zone with 3 games left.
They will try to emulate their neighbours from Calais, a Fourth Division amateur team who reached the French Cup Final after defeating Bordeaux 3-1 aet.
Supporters' clubs are asking the fans to be clad in red and yellow and to boo Boom Boom and Lee as soon as they enter the pitch and every time they have the ball. Talking colours, we' ll be wearing our home kit while Lens will play in dark blue and black shirts, black shorts and black socks.
Midfielder Blanchard (knee) is still doubtful while Stephane Collet made his first appearance this season last week against PSG. GBP 2.5m reported Arsenal target Alex Nyarko should be ok despite a recurrent (back?) injury.
The doors at Bollaert stadium will be opened at 6:45pm local time to comply with the injunctions of the police.
Francophone Gooners : The game is live on encrypted telly Canal+ and TV5. And if not already done, see Arsenal vs Lens page for guide to RC Lens including detailed squad list.
