Vieira wants to face Dynamo by Rupe

Arsenal probably need to win in Kiev tonight, and definitely cannot afford to lose. Inter will have all but qualified if they beat Lokomotiv, and we cannot let Dynamo get any further ahead of us.

Patrick Vieira has travelled to Kiev and is desperate to play tonight despite missing the last 3 games with a thigh strain. He is close to fitness but Arsene Wenger will be having a close look at him before deciding to risk him. Freddie Ljungberg, also returning from injury, is more fit. But we have more options in his position. Chances are Vieira will start and Freddie will be in reserve on the bench.

Keown is set to miss another game, but chances are that Sol and Kolo would have been preferred even if Martin was fit.

With Bergkamp missing as usual, Wiltord seems a cert to start alongside Henry. But Wenger surprised us at Anfield so who knows, maybe Aliadiere will get another shot. Kanu had a refreshingly effective game on Saturday when he came off the bench against Chelsea so he could well have earned himself another appearance too.

For Dynamo, the injured trio of Diogo Rincon, Georgij Peyev and Roberto Nanni have all taken part in training and are in the squad for the match. But midfielder Florin Cernat is likely to be out through injury.

Arsenal old-boy Oleg Luzhny has been reflecting on how things have changed in the relatively short time since the Moose graced the touchline in Kiev. In his day the team would have been almnost exclusively Ukrainian, but now they've got Rincon and his fellow Brazilian Alessandro, Nanni, from Argentina, Tiberiu Ghioane from Romania, Georgi Peev from Bulgaria, Badr El Kaddouri from Morocco and Croatians Goran Sablic and Jerko Leko.

Oleg played for Dynamo last time we played them: a 3-1 loss in 1998 when Arsenal played with Christopher Wreh up front on his own! Oleg reckons Arsenal could beat Dyanmo at home, but that this week we'll do well not to lose. And he's probably right.

Dynamo warmed up with a 2-0 home win over Illichivets. They are second in the league behind our old pals Shakhtar Donetsk but catching up. After a disappointing first few games, Dynamo have now won 5 of their last 6 matches.

And incidentally, Inter have not done so well since that win at Highbury. Following a 2-2 draw at Brescia at the weekend (having been 2-0 down), coach Hector Cuper was sacked (it's the 4th game in a row they've failed to win). Alberto Zaccheroni has taken over.
