Patrick Kluivert was sensationally sent off after demanding a booking for an opponent, as Barcelona and Real Madrid fought out a fierce 2-2 draw at the Nou Camp on Wednesday night.
With the game at 2-1 to Barca, Kluivert was fouled by Ivan Campo. The ref blew for a free kick, but didn't brandish the yellow card. Kluivert protested, too much for the referee, and ended up with a red card himself. Needless to say, that made a frantic clash even worse, and Louis van Gaal had to come on to the field to calm his players down.
Real Madrid didn't make the most of the extra man until the final five minutes, when Raul scored the equaliser, his second of the night. (Rivaldo and Figo scored for Barca.)
Nicolas Anelka did get his wish, and played the full game, one of four attackers in Toshack's lineup. He hit a crossbar and saw a header stopped on the line, but he's still waiting to break his duck. Ha ha. |
