Own own Lauren scored a late (and dodgy) penalty to give
Cameroun a 1-0 win over Libya on Sunday.
This maintains their 100% record, and keeps Cameroun on track
to become the first country to qualify for the World Cup next year. They're yet to concede a goal, and only need a draw in their next match.
Also nice to see Lauren continue his good record of penalty-taking. He scored a couple of crucial ones to help Cameroun to Olympic gold last year.
Kanu's Nigeria did not fare so well however, losing 1-0
in Sierra Leone (the first time they've failed to lose in
5 qualifying games). See report from Nigerian-soccer.com.
Nigeria are really up against it now. They are 5 points
adrift of Liberia and 2 behind Sudan, with only the top team qualifying from the group. There are reports that the NFA is to have an emergency meeting to discuss the position of the coach Jo Bonfrere.
