Arsenal will stand none of the nonsense that followed Kanu's last appearance in the African Nations Cup, and have made it clear that they expect him back from Mali ASAP.
Arseene Wenger is quoted as saying, "We want Kanu back on Monday or by Tuesday morning at the latest, and he knows that...". Assurances from both players have apparently stopped the club from going so far as to send out special jets for them.
Kanu plays in the third place play-off against the host nation tomorrow (live on British Eurosport at 4pm, according to my listings). Or we assume he does. His performance in the 2-1 semi-final loss to Senegal is described as "listless". See BBC report.
Mali are in that play-off having been beaten 3-0 by Lauren's Cameroon, who face Senegal in Sunday's final (BBC2 or Eurosport 4pm again. Hmmm, might be watching something else just then!). Lauren hit the post at 2-0 up. See BBC report
There are also previews of the weekend's matches on the BBC pages, and
see also the links in our FAQ.
