Co-hosts Nigeria, currently being blamed in some quarters for our (ahem) humiliation at Bradford, are through to the semi-finals of the African Nations Cup... but only just.
They were 1-0 down to Those Who Come From Senegal (but aren't good enough to qualify for France??), until 'teenage sensation' Julius Aghahowa snatched an equaliser 5 mins from the end of the 90 - followed, incidentally, by a somersault routine to put Chris Wreh and Peter Beagrie to shame. And the same fella popped up just after the restart, to score the winner, prompting a pitch invasion and delay to the game.
Kanu played quite deep, and provided some world-class through balls which were squandered by his colleagues, according to Arseweb reader Ben Pope. 'Had his team-mates taken advantage of the opportunities he set up for them with a few slide-rule passes, they wouldn't have needed extra time,' Ben writes.
The semi-finals will pair Nigeria with South Africa, and Tunisia with Cameroon. Both games are on Thursday. In the meantime, Arseweb is counting the days until the first news report linking us with Mr Aghahowa...
