Former Arsenal and England forward Joe Baker has died aged 62. He scored 100 goals in 152 matches for Arsenal between 1962 and 1965. Baker collapsed from a suspected heart attack during a celebrity golf match in Lanark, Scotland. Joe Baker was known as 'Scotland's Englishman', born to Scottish parents in Liverpool. International rules at the time made the Hibernian player only eligible for England. He became the first player from a club outside England to play for his country when he made his debut against Yugoslavia in 1960. He also played for Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and Torino. |
