New books, and Bobby signing his in Islington by Rupe
on 12/2/03 at 00:28
this is story 19 of 36 in this topic to date
See Books page in our Shop for three new entries.

First there's Robert Pires's autobiography "Footballeur", in which you can read the story of the man who's fast becoming an Arsenal legend, and how his experience at Arsenal (and under Arsene Wenger) has transformed his career. It's amazing what he's come through in the last few years. Returning from his recent serious injury is a recovery story we all knew about and witnessed. But the story which came out recently of how his wife suffered a life-threatening road accident around the time of his move to Arsenal, and how they kept it quiet while he was going through that tricky early spell at Highbury, is both shocking and humbling.

Then there's Bernard Azulay's record of last season, "Arsenal at the Double". Many Arsenal fans who've been on the net awhile will be familiar with Bernard's sometimes rambling but always readable anecdotes. Very much a fan's eye view of things, something rather different from your average football book.

Finally there's "The Professor", Myles Palmers biography of Arsene Wenger. It focusses very much on his years at Arsenal, and the transformation of our great club into something even greater, which he (Wenger) has presided over.

Three quite different books, but all very much about the Arsenal of today which, let's face it, is the best Arsenal ever.

There are many more books listed, with Arsenal content historical, biographical, or peripheral. If you are going to buy any of them (or the videos listed on the videos page, please do use the links on our pages. Arseweb gets a small kickback from Amazon for these sales, which helps a lot with the running costs of this site.

But if you want to get the Pires book and can get to the new Borders in Islington this Thursday evening, don't buy it through us! Instead, get down to the shop (in the N1 centre near the junction of Liverpool Rd and Upper St) for 7pm and get one signed by the man himself! See Borders website (click on "Islington" shop, then "This Month's Events").
