New signing Robert Pires asks for the fans' patience to give him a good start in English football. "I don't want Arsenal supporters to judge me on one game," the French international says.

"I think I will need at least a month from now to get my form and fitness together and show people what I can do," he continues.

Pires played in an Arsenal shirt for the first time in the Amsterdam tournament. "I'm looking forward to my time with Arsenal and I think we can do well in the Premiership and also in the Champions League.
