Dennis Bergkamp has said that he's not happy about having to sit and watch from the bench (see his diary on Dennis's official website).
There's some reasonable stuff about not being used to not being
an automatic first choice, and that he thinks he's fit enough. But one word in particular grabs the attention: "It's proving to be harder to get a guaranteed first-team place at Highbury than it is at Barcelona because we have so
many quality strikers now at the club. Outside, it may seem normal to people when they see many strikers battling to start a
match but from within it's very frustrating."
Barcelona, eh? Has Petit been bending his ear too?
To be fair, it doesn't actually look like he's angling for a
transfer. He's just not used to being a sub. Hopefully it'll
just mean that he's more determined to put on a good show when he does get on the pitch. It's going to be hard for Wenger to choose between the 4 strikers when they're all available. But I dare say that won't happen too often. Kanu's probably not going to be playing (for us) for a while anyway, if the Nigerian FA have their way. |
