Arsenal and England goalkeeper David Seaman has undergone surgery on his injured shoulder. He will be out for six more weeks, manager Arsène Wenger said. With Richard Wright also injured, there are plenty of big tasks ahead for 21-year-old third choice Stuart Taylor.
Speculations about Arsenal looking for another keeper are the obvious result of the situation. While the suggestions of some that we are unhappy with Wright seem rather over the top, there is some sense in the idea that we are checking out the options in case Wright is out for more than the 10 days (max) currently
estimated. Getting an experienced older keeper in, maybe on a loan, would be a sensible choice if Wrighty turns out to be
out for a month or more.
Some sources reckon that Iceland's international no. 1 Arni Gautur Arason is being sounded out. He's with Rosenborg in Norway, who have already got a replacement in Norwegian U21 keeper Espen Johnsen. The appropriately-named Arason had a trial at Arsenal 4 years ago, and was
linked
with the Gunners 2 months ago.
Arsene Wenger has said that Stuart Taylor is our only fit
keeper. We hope that, should anything happen to Taylor,
Le Boss remembers Graham Stack. He has, after all been on the bench for the last 2 games...
