Arsenal have been rocked by the news that Gio van Bronckhorst's injury is going to keep him out till December. Gio has ruptured his cruciate ligament.
While his midfield
role can be covered by several (presumably Edu's going
to get some more chances between now and the end of the season),
his position as number two left-back is harder to cover at the moment.
Lauren, who did ok in that position against Leverkusen on Wednesday, is injured and likely to miss Saturday's trip to Newcastle. But there is apparently a slight hope that Cole will be fit again, and Jeffers is thought to be close to a return too.
But there's more bad news as Freddie Ljungberg looks likely to be out for another month. Alternatively, Ananova and others now say that he's hoping to be back for the Deportivo game on March 12th, having spent a week with
Arsenal's fitness guru in France. It seems that the foot injury was aggravated by Freddie's attempt at a quick return, but
apparently he's running on it again now.
Incidentally, Freddie watchers will be interested to know that he appeared on ITV at half time in the Leverkusen
game with un-dyed hair. Des Lynam commented that he only
dyes his hair when he's playing.

Freddie
is home in beddy.
Confused? Just a little tribute. See this Spike Milligan poem.
