Brazilian left-back Juan has
returned from his loan spell at Millwall, a month early.
Most people's gut reaction may be that Arsenal are bringing a defender back because of the prospect of losing virtually the whole of our defence through suspension in the near future. But
the following comments from Lions' boss Mark McGhee might help to counter that feeling.
"It was understood that Juan came here on a temporary basis while we had one or two shortages due to injury. With most of the midfield now back fit we can allow Juan to return. He's made a good contribution whilst he's been here, but he needs to play games. Not having been involved in the first team over the past few weeks, both Arsenal and ourselves felt it was right for him to go back. We're grateful to Arsenal for allowing us to have him, because in the early games he helped us to pick up some useful points."
Juan started only 2 games for Millwall in his 2 months at the den, one of which, against Oxford United, means that he can't play for us in the League Cup.
If we do lose the whol defence for a game or two, Moritz Volz may be hoping for a recall too. The young German who can play at right-back or in midfield has been doing well in his loan spell at Fulham, starting all 5 of their games so far. Chris Coleman wants to make him a permanent acquisition but Volz says that his ambitions are still at Arsenal. |
