Egypyian/Sweidh keeper Rami Shaaban has finally resumed training with the first team squad. Rami broke a leg in training on Christmas Eve of last year.
Shaaban did well when he came in for David Seaman a few times before that, and might have made Wenger think twice about signing
Jens Lehmann if it hadn't been for that injury. He'll now be aiming at a place on the bench as deputy to Lehmann but we imagine it'll be a while yet before he's considered ready for action.
That honour has recently fallen to Graham Stack, whose loan spell at Beveren last season was a great success (according
to Eddie Niedzwiecki as well as reports from Belgium).
Stack's promotion has also been helped by an injury to Stuart Taylor. We had been wondering where Taylor had gotten to, since we'd heard nothing of an injury. He still isn't listed on Arsenal.com's injuries page, but Niedzwiecki confirms that he "has had a little injury set back which is frustrating for him". |
