The Arsenal career of Philippe Senderos has stalled again.
Two weeks after his debut, Senderos damaged a calf muscle, and that's the longest spell he's been available for. Very soon after that he acquired a back problem which kept him out for months. Returning in November just long enough to make his competitive debut in the reserves, he then suffered a stress fracture in his his foot.
Although at the end of December he was said to be running again and expecting to be ready to play by February, the news this week is that he's had to have an operation on it, and will be out for another 3 months.
Wenger says, "You never know, he might play a few games but he will only be competitive again in May." Good luck to the lad. We had to chase off some other top clubs to sign him after his impressive performances for the Swiss youth side, so let's hope he gets over these injuries for next season and develops into a long-term centreback to play with Sol and Kolo.
