According to the Evening Standard (...according to Soccernet!), the new keeper is goingto be Guillame Warmuz. The 32 year old Frenchman (well I never!)
plays for Lens.
He has been a free agent since December and Arsenal are said to be setting up a deal for the rest of this season. They say he'll be third choice behind Seaman and Taylor.
See Soccernet. Presumably there will be something on the Standard site later.
Rupe adds...
We've heard some worrying things about Warmuz. Worrying enough to suggest the rumour is just paper-talk. According to John Rodriguez, "The reason Warmuz is available is that he benched himself back in November after making a series of high-profile clangers (think Dudek *and* Enckelman combined), and after a few weeks, when he didn't feel that he could play up to par, he asked for (and was granted) his release. "
"Ligue 1 is nothing compared to the Premiership, and if he feels he couldn't cut it there, why should he succeed in a league that's
significantly tougher? He's a good man, and a good leader, but he's definitely not the keeper we need…"
Meanwhile, there's another rumour that we're going to take Tim Flowers from Leicester (maybe just on loan till the end of the season).
