In a jungle of transfer rumours, the idea of Auxerre's French international defender Philippe Mexes coming to Arsenal seems to be a likely one.

His contract runs to 2006, but he's already interested to leave the French cup champions, alongside Liverpool target Djibril Cisse. The 21-year-old Mexes says he'll meet for pre-season training, but that he'll not necessarily play for them through the whole of next season. Various media reports tell of Arsenal as the only likely destination.
