The player himself is said to have been keen to go back to Brazil, following a disappointing spell in England. He looked promising in the reserves in his first season after arriving in May 2001, then missed a lot of the next season's campaign with a cruciate ligament injury. He started this season with a 3 month loan spell at Millwall which didn't really work out for him, and went for a trial at PSV in November.

Fluminese have signed him, apparently for nothing but with a sell-on clause that means Arsenal will make some money if he moves on again in the near future.
