As rumoured at the start of the week, Arsenal have signed Dutch U21 striker Robin van Persie from Feyenoord.
The news has been confirmed by the club (see profile and pictures).
As usual, it's a "long-term" deal for an undisclosed fee. The player has yet to have a medical, so it's not completely 100% as yet. In any case, Arsenal can't officially register him until the summer transfer window opens on May 17th.
He is a typical Wenger striker: a good passer with vision, who is happy to play on the wing as well up front. By all accounts he has a pretty sweet left foot, so presumably he'll give us a more attacking option when Pires is unavailable than we've had this season.
van Persie has already won the UEFA Cup, 2 years ago. The same year, he was voted the Dutch young player of the year.
