On a quiet day for footie news, the Daily Mail chooses to lead with the old, old story that we might be keen on Sergei Rebrov. And if it's not us, then (of course) it's bound to be Chelsea.
And what is the rock-solid basis for this reprise? 'Sources close to the player insist he is destined for the Premiership,' apparently, coupled with the manager's statement that 'it is a logical time for him to move to a new club'. Speculative fee mentioned: £12m.
They also tack on the token reference to our need (??) for a new goalie, this time picking out Ipswich's Richard Wright. Inevitable that this one would pop up eventually... and I suppose we don't need to spend too long thinking up a new chant. Speculative fee mentioned: £5m. |
