Real Vallecano keeper Kasey Keller is being linked with
Arsenal again. Like last time, when he was linked back at the end of October, we
suspect that this is a case of the current club trying to whip up interest in their best asset.
The stories of Arsenal looking for a new keeper just won't go away, and now that Neil Sullivan seems to have signed for Tottenham
we can expect a few new ones to be linked. Sullivan, by the way,
has had a clause written into his contract saying that he can
leave at a low price if he doesn't win the "battle" to become
their first-choice keeper. His rival is Ian Walker. Might want to
think about topping yourself if you can't win that "battle", Neil. (Ian Walker has been linked with Southampton,
but has been quoted as saying, "As far as I'm concerned I'm the number one goalkeeper at the club unless anyone tells me otherwise."
Anyone, Ian? Will I do? As my Tottenham-supporting friend
put it, you weren't even the best goalie at your club last season.)
And speaking of Tottenham signings, Sergei Rebrov reportedly
arrived in London yesterday and headed straight for Highbury. No,
not a last minute change of mind or a chance to get the truth
from Oleg. Ukraine are using the Arsenal ground for training
because the Wembley pitch needed a bit of a rest. Rebrov's
signing is expected to be completed tomorrow.
Plenty of Spurs fans will be wondering if it's all been another ruse to get them to renew their season tickets, but sadly it seems not. The fact is that in buying Sullivan and Rebrov they've improved their team
immeasurably. Ooooh, we're really scared.
