Everyone seems to think that Arsenal are on the verge of signing
Brasilian centre back Edmilson of Sao Paulo. In fact the Italian press say we've already got him.
Edmilson is yet to break into the national team (hence the
paltry £5million being talk about) but is seen as the
eventual successor to Aldair. Can't be bad. Arsène Wenger is said to have gone to South America last week for talks.
Arsenal with 2 Brasilian defenders in the starting 11?
Whatever next? Edmilson himself has been quoted as saying
"Arsene Wenger talked with me and other players, but if the
transfer business does not carry through the fact there has been interest from a
coach such as Arsene already leaves me happy." If anything, the fact that he's playing it down makes it seems more likely. But what we want to know is who are the other players Edmilson
mentioned?
Meanwhile the same reports are saying that Wenger hasn't given up on Robert Pires yet, despite reports that the Marseilles player is
heading for Real Madrid thanks to Anelka's recommendation.
