It looks as though Edu could be a Gooner within a week, with the news that he has been granted Portuguese citizenship - and the all-important EU passport is on its way.
Arsene Wenger has confirmed: "Edu is in Portugal at the moment. It is just a matter of him receiving (his passport) now and if all goes well, the deal to sign him should be completed by Monday or Tuesday."
But don't expect him to go straight into the first team. Wenger rightly points out that he's not being playing much of late, and that it seems to take time for Brazilians to settle in England (see Silvinho). "It could be as much as four or five months - nearly May - before he's ready," said Le Boss. |
