First the good news: there are reports that both Dennis Bergkamp and Tony Adams will be fit for the game against Leicester on Saturday. Although it's always a bit worrying when such news comes so early in the week: plenty of time for Tone to pick up another injury...
Now the really good news! Dennis has announced, on his official website (be warned, there appears to be something in their current java which makes my browser crash/hang), that he has now signed the new 2 year contract that's been the subject of so much speculation in recent weeks.
The fact that he wants to stay at Arsenal, despite the fact that he's no longer an automatic first choice, speaks volumes. Dennis is happy at Arsenal and in London, and expects to finish his career with us. In these days of "mercenary" foreign players,
going from club to club looking for the next bigger paycheck,
we are privileged to receive such loyalty from one of the best players there have ever been. And lucky to be supporting a club which can engender those kinds of feelings in its players.
Let's hope we'll be hearing similar news about the likes of Henry and Vieira soon.
