There's not a lot else to be said that hasn't been said a hundred times already during his Portuguese passport saga! (see this page of newsreel search results to get the full story).

Arsenal don't expect Edu to be playing for the first team in the near future, as he's expected to take a while to settle in. But the way things are going this season, who knows? It'll be interesting to see if Arsenal will be registering him for eligibility to play in the Champions League (along with, presumably, Stepanovs). The deadline for that is the 1st of February.

Somewhat appropriately, Edu will wear the number 17 shirt last used by Emannuel Petit. From what we've heard, there's every reason to be excited by this signing.
