Rumours are abound, following a News of the World investigation apparently, that there are doubts over the validity of Tomas's Greek passport. His former club Lausanne say they know nothing of his Greek status, which removed the need for a work permit when we bought him.
The paper claim that the Home Office will investigate, and that Arsenal are in danger of being kicked out of the FA cup, Tomas having appeared as a sub against Carlisle.
One shouldn't worry too much. It is of course possible that
Tomas only got the passport in order to be able to sign for us.
But it's still likely to disturb M. Wenger. Only days ago, in the wake of the appeal court's decision regarding Bruce Grobelaar, he spoke about his worries regarding corruption. Hopefully these passport worries will be short-lived and
not have a big impact. Wengers concerns stem, understandably, from his time as Monaco coach, in the era of Marseilles' repeated cheating championships.
