Arsenal's German midfielder Stefan Malz can be on his way back to the Bundesliga. The usually well informed Kicker magazine reckons Malz is a serious alternative for Kaiserslautern, who have sold three midfielders the last month. Malz, who still has a fairly good reputation back home, may be just the left-sided midfielder that 'Lautern is looking for. With Arsenal, he's only made 14 first team appearances, scoring two goals in two seasons. At 28, the German is not likely to want to hang about Highbury hoping for a League Cup start next season. Arsenal will want GBP 800,000 for Malz, who cost less when he was bought from 1860 Munich. However, Kaiserslautern may prefer to sign Nzelo Lembi from Belgian league runners-up FC Brugge instead. Kicker also links Arsenal with Bayern Munich's veteran striker Carsten Jancker. The 26 year-old German international is said to have spurned Sunderland because he is negotiating with Arsenal. But how many strikers are we to have in one squad?!
