Arsenal appear to be serious in their attempt of signing Dutch midfielder Giovanni van Bronckhorst from Rangers. Several media stories today suggest that manager Arsène Wenger is ready to spend GBP 8,5 million to secure the transfer. The Sun even reckons the deal is done, and that Gio will become Arsenal's best paid player (until Sol, that is...)

The rumours about talks between Rangers and Arsenal surfaced a month ago, and the signing is said to be the confirmation of ambition that Patrick Vieira wants.

The player himself has played down the talk (see official Rangers site), saying that if Arsenal want to talk to him he'd be "interested to listen", but that nothing has happened as yet.
