Gio deciding, Bergkamp and Wright rumours by Rupe
on 16/6/01 at 21:31
this is story 771 of 1143 in this topic to date
There's now been confirmation that Giovanni van Bronckhorst is talking to Arsenal about a possible move. See Reuters report for quotes. Gio says he'll decide by the end of next week. He mentions other clubs' interest but also says he's always wanted to play in the Premiership, and it's probably fair to say that Bergkamp will have recommended the Gunners to him.

Bergkamp meanwhile is the subject of speculation on this Spurs site. It's a clever rumour. We wouldn't be at all surprised to see a striker leave this season. Wenger has said that 4 is enough, and the signing of Jeffers gives us 5 (and that's not counting the possibililty of youngsters moving up to appear in the first team squad more often). Add to that the fact that Bergkamp, although he's always denied stories that he was a Tottenham fan as a kid, admits that he was (and is) a Glenn Hoddle fan.

But against that there's the fact that the Tottenham fans are probably trying to cheer themselves up, and worry Arsenal fans, as the possibility of Campbell moving to the Gunners grows.

And with the Dudek move looking ever more unlikely, papers are awakenign to the fact that they need to start linking us with every other keeper under the sun again. Richard Wright is the latest, but as this Ipswich site points out, Town have no need to sell and Wright has recently signed a new contract. Also, he's unlikely to be happy with playing second fiddle to Seaman for a season.
