With Arsenal reduced to putting a 17 year old with
half a match of reserve team experience on the bench for first team matches, it's hardly surprising that we're being linked
with goalkeepers.
Some sources reckon we're looking for someone to borrow
for a while, till Seaman gets back from his shouldre op and/or Richard Wright recovers fitness and form. Rosenborg's Icelander
Arni Arason is still the favourite subject of that rumour.
But
Planet Football claim to have information from Argentina, that
Boca Juniors Colombian international keeper Oscar Cordoba
is being lined up for a permanent move.
Cordoba could come for as little as £3.5million, which
would make the buy relatively painless, and a work permit wouldn't be a problem with Cordoba being a Colombia regular.
Their quotes form the man include,
"The club knew of my desire to change club and now I have options to consider,
which will give me the chance to prevail in Europe"
"It is the time to move, I have spoken with the directors and we have agreed
everything in principal. I need to take the next step on a personal level."
There's nothing very concrete, and it would not be at all
surprising if we heard Wenger give Wright another vote of confidence in the next day or two as a response to this.
He may not bother just yet though. He's already been
quoted today as saying that he doesn't plan to sign anyone else till the summer.
