Wright's move comes after Seaman's decision to stay on signified that he would be unlikely to get many more first team opportunities in the coming season than he did last year. Understandably, Wright wants to make sure he's playing so that he can get himself into England contention before Seaman packs it in.

It remains to be seen if Arsenal will be trying to sign another keeper. Although many have been linked recently, Wenger may feel that Stuart Taylor has done enough to show he'll be an able understudy.
