According to a report in the Times today, the chances of Arsenal building a new
stadium at Kings Cross have faded somewhat.
A company called LCR are building the Channel Tunnel rail terminus there,
and have been expected to be willing to include Arsenal as
a partner in developing their left-over land. But they have
now said that
any development of this extra space will have to wait till
2005 at the earliest, because of restrictions caused by their
building work. And of course, these things always take much
longer than projected, so this appears to take the Kings X option
much too far into the future to be a realistic solution for
the Arsenal.
The Times article suggests that a new option is the land
in North Finchley recently purchased (allegedly) for a training
ground.... as suggested on ArseWeb back in April.
To find the Times article go to today's business section of their site. You can try jumping straight to the story but be warned: without
their frames around it, it makes
my browser crash before I have time to read it all.
