At the Arsenal FC AGM yesterday, chairman Peter Hill-Wood
has told shareholders that although they are looking into
building a new stadium, moving from Highbury will take a
minimum of 4 years (as we reported here
2 weeks ago, the Kings X site may well not be available
for even longer).
However, there does appear to have been a change since last
year when moving was considered a likely but not a preferred
option. Now it seems that the board is pretty much committed
to leaving Highbury. Kings X is the preferred new site, but
as Yoda said, "there is another..."
Of course the question remains, "where are we going to
play our home matches in Europe when Wembley gets
bulldozed?" White Hart Lane? The thought makes me shudder
but at least there's less chance that they'll be using their
stadium on European nights than Chelsea will...
AFCi have
this page
on the AGM, but it doesn't say much beyond the fact that
it took place.
