Middlesbrough (0) 0 - 1 (1) Arsenal
Riverside stadium, Satirday 4th November 2000
FA Carling Premiership
Arsenal took the lead midway through the first half,
but despite Boro being down to 10 men failed to extend the lead.
Back down to earth after the goal-fest against 10 man Man City
last weekend.
Vickers let Pallister's pass get away from him slightly, and Ljungberg pounced to steal the ball and race towards goal.
Mark Crossley came out to meet him just inside the box and
brought Freddie down after he'd pushed the ball round.
The ref showed a technically unarguable red card to Crossley,
and Henry stepped up to fire the penalty home.
Boro had started well, with Dixon having to clear off the line
and Lukic making a good save from a long-range shot.
Arsenal failed to make the extra man tell this time. Although wehad the better of the rest of the first half, Boro pressed
for the equaliser in the second, Arsenal resorting to looking for a clincher on the break.
There were some dodgy moments in our box, with
John Lukic looking a bit less safe than in previous games. He's
earned one dodgy one with some excellent performances recently, and we can only be thankful that we've gotten away with it.
