Derby celebrate another 0-0 by Rupe

Arsenal (0) 0 - 0 (0) Derby County
Highbury, Saturday 11th November 2000
FA Carling Premiership

Derby defended deep and in numbers, and weathered a strong finish from Arsenal to grab their second 0-0 draw in a week.

Arsenal fielded an attacking side, with Bergkamp in the right midfield position and Ljungberg on the left, and Henry & Wiltord in front. But Derby's stout defending left Arsenal trying too many clever touches to get through, and keeper Poom made good fingertip saves from Wiltord and Bergkamp.

Derby managed to get forward quite a bit too, partly thanks to a lot of wasteful possession on out part. And to be fair they had the clearest chances, Rory Delap missing one of almost Goaterish proportions (see Man City match).

Martin Keown, who understandably is reported to be less than happy with being dropped form the England squad, did his cause no good with an uncharacteristically bad game. To be fair, he did come up with a great goal-line clearance when Delap got a header on target.
Grimandi, playing on his birthday, did well until taken off in the second half. But Lee Dixon's experience coming off the bench helped ensure we didn't get any more shaky as a result of the Grimster's absence. On the other side of the defence, Silvinho also had a poor game, being run ragged down the wing by Burley and Martin in the first half.

Full reports to follow on the match report page which already features our list of links to reports on other sites.

Man Utd came back from a goal down at home to Boro, and open up a lead of 2 points.
